November Family Reading Night

Please join us for our November Family Reading Night on Mon., Nov. 16th at 7:00pm. This month we will be "clowning around" with Pat Donohue, also known as Mr. Beau the Clown.

We will be celebrating Mr. Beau's 35th anniversary of being a clown. In a very family friendly program, Pat will transform into Mr. Beau right before our eyes. Then he will entertain us with jokes, juggling, and some amazing magic tricks. He promises something for everyone, from young children to grandparents.

At the end of his program, Mr. Beau will have a gift for all the children who attend, so registration is required. To register stop in at the library or call 585-924-2637.

National Gaming Day

On Sat. Nov. 14th, from 10-4, we will be joining libraries all over the country in celebrating the 2nd annual National Gaming Day.

The Malone Meeting Room will be set up with a variety of board games; some old favorites and some new ones to try. All members of the community are invited to bring along family members, a group of friends, your scout troop or just come alone and see who else is playing that day.

No registration is required for this program, which is free and open to the public. Hope to see you that day for some old-fashioned, unplugged fun!

November Book Discussion

Jamie Ford's novel, Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, will be discussed this month at the Friends Booked for the Evening book discussion on Tues., Nov. 10th at 7pm in the library's Malone Meeting Room.

When artifacts from Japanese families sent to internment camps during World War II are uncovered during renovations at a Seattle hotel, Henry Lee embarks on a quest that leads to memories of growing up Chinese in a city rife with anti-Japanese sentiments.

This discussion is open to all members of the community.

You've Got to Have Friends!

The Friends of the VFL will be joining Friends of Libraries groups all around the country in celebrating National Friends of Libraries Week, Oct. 18-24. It's a week to spotlight all that Friends groups do for libraries and to encourage members of the community to join this very worthwhile support group.

We invite you to come to the library this week and check out the display of things that the Friends of the VFL have done over the past 19 years. We have a special gift for our members who renew their memberships this week or for those who become members for the first time - a free 2010 Book Lover's Page-a-Day calendar.

Supplies are limited so get in early!
